We analysed the enhancement rate of 24 surgeons before and after the introduction of IBRA refractive services. The average enhancement rate of 26,077 laser eye treatments without the use of IBRA was 7.61%. The average enhancement rate of 53,268 treatments within the first 18 months after introducing IBRA to the treatment planning process was 5.41%, showing a significant 30% reduction.
Subgroup analysis showed a 33% reduction of the enhancement rate for low-volume surgeons (<700 cases per year), and a 25% reduction of the enhancement rate for high-volume surgeons (2000+ cases per year).
Assuming an average extra cost of USD 400 for every enhancement performed, we estimate that, by using IBRA, low-volume surgeons could save up to USD 8000 per year, with high-volume surgeons potentially saving up to USD 13,500 annually.
